Abstracts of Conference Papers - ODF CampODF plug-ins and other solutions to implement the Belgian open standards directive Peter Vanndenabeele Abstract: I will discuss the Belgian federal government two-phase plan to implement Opendocument Format (ODF) for the exchange of revisable office documents between federal government agencies. I will discuss the different technical solutions, with an emphasis on the "ODF plug- in" solutions to allow also MS Office to read and write ODF documents. Biography: Peter Vandenabeele obtained his M.Sc. and Ph.D. from the Catholic University of Leuven (K.U.Leuven) after which he worked for several high-tech companies in Flanders and Silicon Valley. From 2000-2006 he was CEO of Mind, a company specialized in open source development (mainly embedded Linux and eCos) for major high-tech companies in Flanders and abroad. In 2006 he sold Mind to Essensium, a start-up in wireless ASIC design. Since October 2006, Peter works for Fedict (the Belgian public administration responsible for ICT standards and architecture) as "expert standards and interoperability". |
