Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 125113
Inconsistent chart formatting when imported from Calc
Last modified: 2015-04-18 20:27:57 UTC
Created attachment 83572 [details] These dates are supposed to be spaced one year apart, which they were in Calc before import. When charts with date information in them are imported from Calc to Impress, the date formatting is recomputed inconsistently. A year that was entered as "1987" in Calc can become "06/09/1905" in Impress. I assume this is because Calc and Impress use different methods of coding dates.
Please attach the source document too. Please try the actual 4.1 version. There have been some bug fixes regarding charts. Please make sure, that in Calc the option "Source format" in tab "Numbers" of the x-axis is not checked. When copying to Impress the chart looses the connections to the spreadsheet data and therefore "source format" makes no sense. Set the desired format directly in the Chart, before you copy it to Impress.
This is still a problem in version 4.1.1, but the work-around Regina suggested works.
Configuration info: Apache Open Office 4.1.1 AOO411m6(Build:9775) - Rev. 1617669 2014-08-13 09:05:42 (Wed, 13 Aug 2014) I could reproduce this issue also on MacBook Air (13-inch, Mid 2012) with Mac OS 10.10.13. Find enclosed a Calc source file containing a chart and target Impress file. On the chart, the X-axis includes each year from 1987 until 2011. When copying the chart from Calc to Impress, the years on the x-axis are indeed transformed, when i reproduced the issue 1987 was changed to “09/06/1905” (note that comment 0 by Patrick Julius has got a different date format :“06/09/1905”). Steps to reproduce the issue: 1. Create an .ods file which contains a chart with at least 1 year value of format YYYY on the X axis (or open the sample file attached) 2. Select the chart, please note the formatting of the date on the x-axis. 3. Copy the chart (Command+C or via menu Edit+Copy) 4. Create a new Impress presentation (File/New/Presentation/Create) 5. Paste the chart (Command+V or via menu Edit+Paste) Actual result: The format of the dates on the x-axis on the graph is changed to 09/06/1905 Expected result: Date format defined in chart Impress should be the same as the one in Calc Charts number formatting is changed when copying from Calc to Impress. Charts including time (09:00 becomes 30/12/1899) and number+currency (2,50 € becomes 02/01/1900) are also affected by this issue. I can also confirm that the workaround proposed by Regina is good and that it works for copying chart with numbers format mentioned just above.
