Description arziman 2005-01-25 13:17:08 UTC
I have Debian Woody with glib2.2. When trying to install OO1.1.2-4,
it stops immediately saying no glib2.3 found. In system requirements page
glib 2.2.0 is said to be enoug.
Comment 1 Olaf Felka 2005-01-25 22:14:21 UTC
Have you downloaded the OOo files from an OOo site?
Comment 2 arziman 2005-01-26 08:08:57 UTC
Yes, from the finnish native project site (fi.openoffice.org), finnish versions.
Comment 3 Olaf Felka 2005-01-26 09:59:50 UTC
I've tested with the downloaded version from
http://ftp.stardiv.de/pub/OpenOffice.org/stable/1.1.4/: No problem, OOo 1.1.4
runs fine with glibc 2.2.5. This issue depends on the finnish native project.
Please ressign to a responsible person in this projekt.

This issue is invalid/cannot be solved by modifying OOo itself.

-> reassigning to fi, confirming.
They can resolve invalid/worksforme. (but at least the download-page should be
updated according to the real requirements of the fi-build
http://fi.openoffice.org/lataa.html lists glibc 2.2.0 )

The requirements are those of the build-host. So when OOo is compiled on a
"newer" system, it will require a newer version of glibc.

There is nothing OOo can do about that, only the builder can either use another
build-system or use a "wrapper" to glibc that avoids the dependency.

I've never tested such a wrapper myself, but you (fi.ooo) may give apbuild from
http://autopackage.org/download-tools.html a try
