Description lars 2002-08-06 17:26:16 UTC
When creating a new text box ("T" from the draw functions) and not typing
anything, exiting this box makes it vanish.

They should stay as one created them; one likes(/might like) to first create
the needed text boxes at their places and then fill them with content.

TM->FT: A wish for an enhancement, please have a look, thanks !
Comment 2 falko.tesch 2003-10-08 12:56:09 UTC
The behaviour of a text box that is left empty should not result in
having it vanished completely but rather leave it where it was
postioned with a ghost outline to find and use it later.

Hello Kai, I suppose this as a senseful feature . Please give approval
for this evaluated OO.o 2.0 flagged issue.
If you confirm with the target OO.o 2.0, then please keep it on your
owner (or the owner of the concerning developer) for implementation.
In case you want this issue for 'OOo Later', then please reset the
target milestone. If you decline the issue finally, please set the
resolution to 'Wontfix' (but do not close). In case of 'OOo Later' or
'Wontfix' please reset it on Bettina's owner. Thank you.

KA=>CL: behaviour should be the same as in competitive products.
Comment 6 clippka 2003-12-10 10:20:52 UTC
We already do it like the competition. I would love if user 'expirience' will
have a look at the competition themselfs first.

Hello Christian, part of evaluation is always the comparison with competition.
That also has alredy been done in this case, before you got this issue.
I suppose, that you just looked at the presentation tool of the competitor,
which shows the same behaviour at raising a textobject. The other both programs
of that competitor show another behaviour, there the empty textbox keeps
visible. You get back this one reopened.

Please rethink this one. Thank you.

To grep the issues easier via "requirements" I put the issues currently lying on
my owner to the owner "requirements".

I have successfully duplicated this issue by creating a new text document and using the draw function to make an empty text box. When the text box is left blank, it is deleted from the document. I agree that this makes initial document design more difficult than it should be by now allowing multiple empty text boxes to be created and then filled with content afterward.
